Regarding money, our intention is both to make this work available to anyone who is called to it, and run a viable, healthy organization. Carefully read our Tiered Equity Pricing page to understand which payment tier is right for you. Monthly payment plans can be made as long as you contact us with advance notice.
For most people, a vision fast or initiation is a major life event. Though you can register up to the start date for most of our programs, as much advance notice as possible is strongly recommended. For vision fasts, youth rites of passage and the Four Seasons of Leadership, three months to one year or more in advance is ideal. Preparation takes time.
refund policies
long programs (5 days or longer)

Our major programs require a lot of planning on the part of staff and participants. As such, deposits are not refundable for long programs if you cancel.
If you need to make a payment plan, do so with our office when the deposit is sent. Full payment is due no later than 30 days before the start of a program unless prior arrangements have been made.
Cancellations made within 30 days or less before the program begins will not receive a refund of their full payment. If we are able to fill their spot with another participant, they may receive a refund of the full payment minus the $400 deposit.
For the training Four Seasons of Leadership, deposits less $100 application fee will be refunded if we do not accept your application.
For the Steens Mountain Hike, registration payments must be made in full. There is no deposit. Cancellations made 31 days or more before the start of the program will receive a full refund less $400. Cancellations made 30 days or less before the start of the program forfeit their full payment. If we are able to fill their spot with another participant, they may receive a refund of the full payment minus the $400 deposit.
COVID-19 REFUND POLICY
If Cascadia Quest must cancel a program due to COVID-19, we will refund all of your program fees less $200.
If you must cancel your participation in a program due to a high-risk exposure or developing COVID-19, then you may transfer all of your program fees to another program happening within a year or request a 50% refund.
If you decide to cancel your participation because you would like to mitigate your risk of contracting COVID-19, then our regular refund policy is in place.
shorter programs (Four days or less)

Cancellations made with four weeks or more notice prior to start of program will receive a full refund less a $75 administrative fee.
If a cancellations is made with less than four weeks notice prior to the start of program, then no amount is refundable or transferable.
Full payment is due upon registration unless prior arrangements have been made.
COVID-19 REFUND POLICY
If Cascadia Quest cancels a daylong program due to COVID, you will receive a full refund less $75 administrative fee.
If you must cancel your participation due to a high-risk exposure or developing COVID-19, you will receive a full refund less $75 administrative fee.

other cancellations

In the event of a program cancellation made by our organization, we will refund all amounts paid, unless the cancellation is due to catastrophe, “acts of god”, or any other event beyond our control (e.g. pandemic). In that case, we will refund 50% of monies paid.
Financial Support
Our goal is to make this work available to any person who desires it. We understand that for some people our program fees are a major, if not seemingly impossible hurdle. Yet, for others, quite reasonable— even easy. Our Equity Pricing policy is designed to help this situation. We are, in addition, very willing to support you in the process of financial planning and fundraising. This can take the form of budgeting and planning, brainstorming, fundraising of many types, community outreach, etc. This process can be incredibly healing, empowering, create community connections, solidify relationships, create many forms of abundance, and more. You may be amazed at how much support you find out there if you are willing to ask! Thus far, participants and families have had great success with this type of supported fundraising. Our limited scholarship monies are distributed only as a last option. Contact for more information.
Community Supported Rites of Passage
In traditional cultures across the globe, until quite recently and still in some places today, a young person was sent out from their community, went through a rite of passage led by mature adults and elders of that community (though not their parents), then returned to that community with the gifts they received through the transformative process.
At Cascadia Quest we seek to re-establish that traditional cycle and ethic: Support young people and adults in finding their purpose, power, and vision through wilderness rites of passage, and benefit from the gifts they return with. There are several ways you as part of your community can join in this transformation, and support your youth and adults:
-Identify those people ready. Tell them, or their parents/guardians, about this or other rites of passage. Share information with them.
-Support those participating in rites of passage energetically. Encourage them, bless them, pray for them, hang out with them, ask for and hear their stories and the gifts within.
-Support them financially. Small to large donations of money directly to that family or individual for their registration fee is an incredibly meaningful and impactful statement of support.
-Give someone who works for you time off and blessing to go out into the wilderness, to grow, and to bring back what they receive to your organization.
-Show up for their send off, return, and especially Welcome Home Ceremony. Witness them. Receive their gifts.
-Donate to Cascadia Quest. Your financial support buoys us, makes this work possible, and supports all families and individuals involved.
For Communities, Organizations, and Businesses
We are evolving a program of community supported rites of passage for communities, organizations, and businesses that basically follows the above pattern.
Engage (or form) your elders group, management team, etc. to look for those young people, parents or guardians of young people, or adults ready for this type of experience. Talk to them about it. Come up with a plan.
-Collect funds from members, do a fundraising/funraising activity, offer time off (unpaid or paid), allocate well-being funds, etc.
-Support them energetically through their participation. Encourage them, bless them, pray for them, hang out with them, ask for and hear their stories and the gifts within.
-Show up at their Welcome Home Ceremony and/or organize one within your group. Hear their story.
-Receive and benefit from their gifts. Because each person typically returns from their journey with greater solidity, self-knowing, purpose, vision and power- they strengthen and benefit that organization, community or business.
-It is difficult to overstate just how meaningful and moving a financial contribution to an individual or family for their rite of passage can be. It greatly inspires the desire to serve, give back, and pay forward to others. This isn’t a reason to give, but rather a sign that the selfless gifting of kindness and good will tends to bring more kindness and good will into the world.
